The money’s gone!

I received a concerning and very disappointing email today from our Gender and Development Coordinator. It turns out that we no longer have any Gender and Development Fund. Our APCD told us at the beginning that the money was going to run out, but I didn’t realize it would run out right now; I thought it would be sometime this summer. Well, this means that I won’t be able to do my Girls’ Leadership Retreat. I’ve already done the planning; I only needed to finalize it before writing my proposal. What a disappointment! I don’t think we will be able to do our End-of-the-Year Celebration either. =(
Anyways, we still have our quarterly funds but that is going to end sometimes this summer. They’re waiting to hear from the funder on whether or not we’re going to get more funding. I seriously doubt that we’re going to get more money because international aid was cut after the coup. Months ago, I read that people would start feeling the cut in aid; I guess this is the start.
Well, I hope that we get more fund soon. Our GMC is not close to being sustainable and probably won’t be for a while. Even if it was sustainable there would be no way for us to maintain it without international funding.
