Secret Identities

I can’t believe that I forgot this book was coming out this week! I first heard about this book at the MAASU SC – KU last year; Parry Shen was the keynote speaker.

Secret Identities is a graphic novel anthology of Asian American superhero stories. There are several stories that are based on historical events, such as the Japanese Interment Camp and the death of Vincent Chin.

I am really excited about this book because it is a source of empowerment for Asian Americans. It is also a great way to learn about Asian American history. My only critique of the book (based on this video)  is that it seems to be very “East Asian” focused. I guess I’ll find out when I read it when I’m home this summer.
